Hospital Disaster Plan Training of Trainers – Batch 1
RSUP Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah, Bali
The Hospital Disaster Plan (HDP) Training of Trainers (ToT) was conducted at RSUP Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah, Bali, as part of the EMPC Program Hospital Training under IsDB Project IDN: 1031.
The program represents an important initiative in strengthening hospital disaster preparedness by developing healthcare professionals who can serve as future trainers and facilitators within their respective institutions.
Beyond enhancing participants’ understanding of hospital disaster management, the training emphasizes the importance of knowledge transfer, instructional skills, leadership, and collaboration in building a sustainable culture of emergency preparedness.
Empowering Healthcare Professionals as Future Trainers
The HDP Training of Trainers focuses on preparing participants to take an active role in disseminating essential knowledge and practical approaches to hospital disaster preparedness.
Through interactive learning sessions, group discussions, and collaborative activities, participants are encouraged to develop their confidence in communicating disaster management concepts and facilitating effective learning experiences.
The program also highlights the importance of creating an engaging training environment where participants can exchange perspectives, share professional experiences, and strengthen their ability to work together.
By combining technical knowledge with effective communication and facilitation skills, the training aims to equip participants with the competencies needed to support future disaster preparedness education within their hospitals.
Strengthening Knowledge in Hospital Disaster Management
An essential component of the program is reinforcing participants’ understanding of Hospital Disaster Plan (HDP), or Rencana Penanggulangan Bencana Rumah Sakit.
The learning sessions emphasize key aspects of hospital disaster preparedness, including:
Principles of hospital disaster risk management and emergency preparedness.
Identification of potential hazards, vulnerabilities, and disaster-related risks within healthcare facilities.
Development and implementation of hospital disaster response plans.
Coordination of emergency response teams, including clear roles, responsibilities, and communication procedures.
Management of available resources and maintenance of essential healthcare services during emergencies.
Strategies for communicating disaster preparedness knowledge and facilitating future HDP training activities.
These learning components aim to strengthen participants’ ability to understand disaster management principles while preparing them to communicate and apply this knowledge in future training settings.
Building Confidence Through Collaborative Learning
Recognizing that effective trainers require more than technical expertise, the HDP ToT program incorporates a collaborative learning approach that encourages active participation, teamwork, and professional interaction.
Participants are encouraged to strengthen their communication skills, exchange ideas, and develop a shared understanding of how effective training can contribute to stronger institutional preparedness.
The engaging learning environment also reinforces an important message: disaster preparedness is a collective responsibility, and effective trainers play a vital role in ensuring that knowledge reaches every level of the hospital organization.
Through this approach, the program seeks to develop individuals who can inspire, guide, and support their colleagues in strengthening hospital emergency preparedness.
Creating a Sustainable Culture of Disaster Preparedness
The HDP Training of Trainers is designed to extend the impact of disaster preparedness education beyond the immediate training participants.
By developing internal training capacity, hospitals can strengthen continuous professional development, facilitate knowledge sharing across departments, and support the long-term implementation of disaster preparedness initiatives.
This approach encourages participating healthcare professionals to become agents of knowledge transfer, contributing to a more coordinated, informed, and resilient hospital workforce.
Advancing Hospital Resilience Through Capacity Building
The implementation of the Hospital Disaster Plan Training of Trainers (ToT) at RSUP Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah reflects the continued commitment of EMPC – PT Meridian Kreatama Mandiri, together with its project partners and participating healthcare institutions, to strengthening healthcare workforce capacity in Indonesia.
Implemented under IsDB Project IDN: 1031, the program supports the development of sustainable training capabilities and promotes a proactive approach to hospital disaster risk management.
By empowering healthcare professionals with both disaster management knowledge and instructional competencies, the initiative contributes to building healthcare institutions that are better equipped to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergency situations.
Preparing future trainers today means strengthening the readiness of entire hospital teams tomorrow.
